“CONSONANCE EP”

Born in the USA, now living in Paris, singer-songwriter, lyricist, and performer John (JB) Meldrum brings together American and European visions of what music can be and what it can do. His icons are John Lennon and Martin Luther King: a rocker and a preacher, two exceptional visionaries. JB Meldrum’s artistic searchlight seeks beauty beyond boundaries with his every creation. His musical odyssey spans from his pop/rock debut album, “No Rules Here,” to his forays into West African rhythms on the Zongo Ambassadors’s; release, “Ayijah,” to his breakout album, “Long Live Love,” a melancholy masterpiece featuring his gifted guitar work and heartfelt vocals. JB Meldrum has hit his mark with his large-scale work: “Peace Oratorio.” Inspired by the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, this soon to be released live soundtrack album uses Gospel, High-Life, Reggae, and Classical music styles to spread the word of King’s concept of universal brotherhood and non-violence. With his latest project, “Visions of Johanna: A Retrospective of the Songs of Bob Dylan,” JB takes a deep dive into the vast repertoire of our greatest living poet-musicians. Meldrum uses his talents as an arranger to deliver a fresh yet faithful interpretation of Dylan’s songbook. His most recent release, “Consonance,” is a collection of JB’s instrumental work, charting the evolution of the artist’s work through the years.

THE PEACE ORATORIO

PEACE ORATORIO by JB Meldrum is a unique piece of music with a strong community outreach program designed to foster understanding and brotherhood in America and around the world. Based on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., PEACE ORATORIO speaks to the hearts and minds of people of all colors, ages and backgrounds to help make racism a thing of the past.

Artie

In just a few short years, Artie has built an original repertoire anchored in blues and folk. A versatile musician, he developed his technique at the Aix-en-Provence Conservatory in France before discovering the English folk music of Ben Howard, John Martyn and Nick Drake. Arties’s evolution as a singer song writer traces its roots to Alan Lomax and the traditional American folk repertoire. Studying the masters of Mississippi blues like RL Burnside, Skip James and John Lee Hooker, Artie has developed his own unique style of playing in open tuning and virtuoso finger picking. Faithfully, and true to the genre, Artie pays homage to the great folk storytellers of the 20th century, Dylan, Johnny Cash, Guthrie Leadbelly, Seegar and Leonard Cohen in his new original compositions. Open to world music, his repertoire is filled with diverse inspirations, often linked by a love of poetry and simplicity. A bit nostalgic for the times of those whose shoulders upon which he stands, Artie performs alone on stage with the simple accompaniment of a rhythm suitcase, harmonica, and guitar. A modern-day Troubadour.
